CSW & Baptism

January 2008,
Dear Parents,

As you know January 27th, 2008 begins our opening liturgy for Catholic Schools week. This is the schedule that we will be following:
January 27, 2008 12:30 Opening Liturgy
Sunday
January 28, 2008 Open House 8:30 - 10:00
Monday
January 29, 2008 SPORTS DAY
Tuesday
January 30, 2008 Celebrate Students Day
Wednesday Academics--Art--Music -other talents
January 31, 2008 Pizza Day
Thursday Career Day
February 1, 2008 Half Day
Friday Closing Prayer Service for CSW

Also we will be covering the sacraments in our Religion curriculum. On January 27th, 2008 along with the CSW liturgy, I would like the children to attend the 12:30pm mass to see a baptism. My son will be baptized that day and I would like the students to see one first hand since we probably do not remember our own. Most of them will be receiving their first penance and communion later on in the year. These are the sacraments of initiation and are very important.
I hope to see you at the mass.

Black History Report

The students recieced the report todat 1/17/08. It was stapled into their homework notebook.
January 2008
Dear parents,

Black History Report

As part of our Social Studies curriculum we will be covering important African Americans in our past and present during the month of February. For this project I am asking that you go to the library and take out a book on an African American in the fine arts. Someone that has lent their talents to television, movies, or music. This can be any African American from the past or present. Please bring the book in by Thursday January 31st, 2008 for me to approve. Please remember that this is a book report; the Internet is not to be used as a resource for this project (only for the art portion.)
The report must include a biography about the person, the contributions that the person has made, and your child's opinion on the person and the book they have read. The art portion must be stamp commemorating the person. Have your child cut the edges of construction paper. Have your child come up with a quote or something important about that person and write it on the stamp. You should also include the year that the stamp was made (ex: 1968, 1993, 2004.)
This report is due Monday February 11th, 2008. Please have it in on time, for everyday late I will deduct 5 points.
Also, we are in the second half of the school year; please replenish your child's supplies. Pencils, crayons, notebooks, sharpeners, pencil box, etc. I do not have the supplies to give your children everyday, as we do not provide school supplies. Sr. Marie does sell supplies in her office.
Thank You, Mrs. A. Alejandro
