ELA: Grandfather's Journey. Focus on Audio and visual skills, story elements, making predictions, compound words. CLASS ACTIVITY: Choose a special moment from your life and think of a way to help you remember it. Create a "remembering" device.
Grammar: What is a sentence? Writing statements and questions, & using capital letters and end marks (pages 1-6.)
Phonics: Listen for initial consonants (pages 1-6.)
MATH: Diagnosing readiness, ways to use numbers, & Numbers in the hundreds (pages 2-7.) VOCABULARY: Ordinal Numbers, Digits, Place-value, Expanded Form, Standard Form, & Word Form.
RELIGION: Chapter 1, God sends us his own son. CLASS ACTIVITY: design a web page to show others ways to follow Jesus. VOCABULARY: Blessed Trinity, Incarnation, Prophet, Public Ministry, Repent, Apostle, & Disciples.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Who am I? Class discussion on where families are from and when each family came to New York. Where on earth is your community? Page 36 in textbook.
SCIENCE: Motion and Speed. Pages (E6-E11) How do you know if something has moved? VOCABULARY: Position, Distance, Motion, & Speed. Quick Lab on page E7 for Thursday.
HOMEWORK: Defining spelling and challenge words. Practice workbook pages 1-7. Math workbook pages R & P 1-1, and R & P 1-2. Religion and Science questions will be given in class and will be found on the website. Social Studies: Interview sheet will be given out on Monday and is due on Wednesday.
