Reminders: Please have all money and permission slips in for our trip to Green Meadows Farm on Nov 4th. United Nations Day is Oct. 24th. School photos are on 10/22, wear correct uniform. Individual photos are on 10/23. Walk-a-thon sponsorship papers should be worked on. Borough projects are due 10/30.
Spelling/Do Now: open, battle, even, candle, frozen, carrots, silent, bottle, lazy, lettuce, maple, fellow, fifty, flavor, floppy. Challenge words: area, excitement, halfway, heap, & schedule. Copy, a,b,c, order, 3 x each, definitions, sentences.
ELA: City Green. Read aloud and motivate, visual literacy, cause and effect, draw conclusions, context clues, & continue with writing prompt.
Grammar: common and proper nouns, pages 33-38.
Phonics: listen for long a, pages 31-34.
Handwriting: improving handwriting, pages 18-21.
Math: Counting money, pages 36-39. Play the game same amount, different ways (pg 36B.) Use math manipulatives to see how to count money.
Religion: Chapter 4 (we spent a lot of time going over chapter 3.) The church begins. Activity: make a post card telling someone about the Good News.
Social Studies: United Nations Day. Activities.
Science: How can you make work easier? Simple Machines, pages E44-E51.
Homework: Definitions for spelling words, Practice wkbk pages 38-44, math wkbk pages r&p 1-12 and worksheets given in class. Religion: what was the mission that Jesus gave his disciples? What did the disciples hear and see at Pentecost? What is the church? What event changes Saul's life? Science given in class.
