Advent/Christmas Letter

Dear Parents and Students:

During this Advent season I have been reminding the students that we are getting ready to receive Jesus at Christmas. We as Christians prepare in many ways. On Friday December 18th the SFA Christmas show will be taking place at 7:00pm. All students are to be back in their classrooms by 6:20pm. Please be on time and do not send your children with a snack, they need to have eaten supper before their show! All costumes should be in to me by now, if not I hope that you acquire one by Friday.
I would like to have a Christmas breakfast for 3-105 on Tuesday December 22nd. I would like the parents to please be available to cook something enough for 32 students. See the attached letter. Please have all items in on Tuesday morning before 8:00am. I also need some parents or Grandparents to assist with food distribution and keeping order in the classroom.
Saint Francis of Assisi is also doing an outreach. 3-105 is collecting baby diapers of any size. This needs to be into school by Friday December 18th. I understand if you cannot participate, I forgot to send home an earlier letter.
We will be leaning how to tell time as part of our math curriculum. I do not allow digital watches anymore in my classroom. I would only like analog watches. The students do not learn much by using digital watches. Please do not send them anymore.
On Friday December 18th St. Francis of Assisi will be having a Bake Sale to support the graduating class of 2010. $1.00 for a slice of cake and juice is $ .50.
Christmas vacation is from December 23rd to January 3rd. We return to school on January 4th. Homework will be given on Friday December 18th so that those who are going on vacation may have all information. Science: a worksheet will be given on recycling. Math: two worksheets will be given on the work we are doing in class. ELA: so that you may prepare for your Black History Project, I would like you to get a biography on an African American entertainer. They need to be "American" and have made contributions to the USA or abroad. Examples: Michael Jackson, Oprah, Alicia Keys, Robert Johnson, and Toni Morrison. Please send me an e-mail at alejandro@sfabrooklyn.org before the end of the vacation so that I may know who you chose. Religion/Social Studies: keep a typed journal of your holiday/vacation and be ready to share your experiences.
