Hello everyone-hope you all are enjoying your summer. Today I was lucky enough to jump out of a plane in New Paltz, NY and survive!! Here is a real math problem related to my jump. (All info is true) Email me with the answer for some bonus points.

Ms. Becht's plane reached 15,000 feet. She jumped out and free fell (attached to someone else) for 9,000 feet. She was falling at a rate of 120 mph. Then her parachute opened. What was her altitude when the parachute opened? About how many miles high was she when she jumped? Would you ever jump out of a plane?

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacation!! Maybe you are doing something relaxing, or working, or just hanging out with friends. I am working at a summer camp, having lots of fun!!

How is that school island coming? Those students who have it done before August 15th will get extra credit!! What a great way to start the new year.

Also be on the lookout for deals at Staples-get your supplies early so you don't have to worry about it.

I would love to do something on the Olympics in the beginning of the year so if you have some math facts about the olympics send it to me-or send me the link. (Get some extra credit and be ready for September) Remember the Olympics start 08/08/08!!
