It was wonderful to see so many of you on Wednesday night!!! Thank you so much for coming and visiting with me and our school!!! For those who were unable to make it here is one of the notes I gave out:
THE TOP 10 WAYS TO HELP YOUR CHILD IN MATH:
1. Don't just ask if they did their homework, ask to see it. If you are not at home when they do it, or you come home later, have them leave it on the table for you to initial.
2. Ask them to teach you how to do what they did in class. Keep asking why....
3. Ask them to play a math card game with you-they know a lot of games!
4. Let them pay for things at the store-that helps them learn counting with change.
5. Have them estimate the bill when you are shopping.
6. Look at their tests-sign them-hang them up when they do well.
7. Send the teacher a note or email to see how your child is progressing.
8. Most importantly if you are excited about math they will be too.
9. Reward them with little things when they are succeeding.
10. Keep at it-every little bit of help counts!!
Last week was a very successful week. In 8th grade we had 100% homework handed in all week!!! Let's keep it up! The 7th grade had above 80% each day-let's see if we can get a 100%.
Don't forget Meet the teacher night is this Wednesday night!!! Those parents/guardians who go will recieve a free homework pass to give to their child.
This Tuesday there is a Catholic high school fair at St. Francis College. All are encouraged to attend.

Hello everyone
We had a wonderful introductory week last week and this week we are "back to normal."
Each week I will post the 7th and 8th grade homework on the website. It may vary because we may not get to something in class, but overall it should stay the same. I sent a note home with all of the students talking about my class rules and grade policy. That note should be returned by Tuesday September 11th. It also stated that each Wednesday the 7th grade has a quiz/test and each Thursday the 8th grade has a quiz or test. Please make sure they are getting signed. This week we will not have the quizzes because it is our first week back.
If you ever have any questions feel free to email me at becht@sfabrooklyn.org.
