Summer is flying by....

I hope that everyone is enjoying the last weeks of summer vacation. Have you been watching the Olympics? There have been some exciting moments in just the first few days. Check out the Olympic website to keep up with the medal count.Official Olympic Website

It is hard to believe that we only have 3 weeks left. Does it sound better if I say 21 days? Either way the first day of school is fast approaching, but there are a lot of things we can look foward to in September.

First there is the parade on September 1st. Remember that if you want to be a part of the group from our school be at St. Matthew's on Eastern Parkway and Utica Ave. for Mass at 9:30 am. Right after the Mass, they will walk in the parade.

Then there is our year long celebration of the 100th Anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi School. These last few weeks of summer would be a great time to think of some ways we could celebrate SFA's anniversary.

I have looked at the School Island Assignments and have the following numbers:
44 % of the 7th grade has completed their Summer Social Studies Assignments
57% of the 8th grade has completed their Summer Social Studies Assignments

Keep in mind, all students who finish all of the Social Studies summer assignments before 8/31/08 will receive extra credit. Please remember that these are the first grades for the year, it is important that you complete the work.

Enjoy the rest of your summer !
See you on September 3 !
