Homework the Week of 1/26 - Social Studies


Remember that we are going to share information about our country's this week. We will use this information to participate in an activity on Thursday!!

There are new Castle Learning assignments for both the 7th and 8th grade. Please remember that these activities are a part of your grade for Social Studies.

There will be exams for both the 7th and 8th grade on Friday. The change from our usual testing days is due to the Catholic School Week activities.


7th Grade
Students need to read Chapter 7 this week.
There will be a test this Friday on Chapter 6; a review list will be given out to assist the students.

Monday - Worksheet 7-1
Tuesday - page 198 2-4
Wednesday - Prepare for Country Bingo
Thursday - Use Review List to study for exam (Students who create study sheets or index cards will earn extra credit)
Friday - page 205 2-4


8th Grade
There is a test this Friday on Chapter 22 sections 1 and 2. Please continue reading the chapter.
Monday - Worksheet 22-2
Tuesday - page 654 3-5
Wednesday - Prepare for Country Bingo
Thursday - Use Review List to study for exam (Students who create study sheets or index cards will earn extra credit)
Friday - Enrichment Activity 22-3

Inauguration Extra Credit


Students will write a letter to President Obama in response to his Inaugural Address. The letter must be in proper format and be typed. The student must respond to the Inaugural Address and express the students concerns with one of the following: the Economy, the Environment, or the War in Iraq /Afghanistan.

Week of 1/11/09 - 7th and 8th grade Social Studies Homework

7th Grade
Reading the textbook is a requirement of the course. All students should be reading chapter 6.
There will be an exam on Thursday 1/14/09 on Chapter 6 sections 1 and 2

Monday - Chapter 6 -1 worksheet (both sides)
Tuesday - Chapter 6 - 2 worksheet (both sides)
Wednesday - Students are to prepare for the exam on Chapter 6 sections 1 and 2. Notebooks will be collected and graded during the exam.
Thursday - Locate 15 facts about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and 15 facts about the Inauguration of a President. This will be due on Tuesday 1/20/09
Friday - Work on Foldable

8th Grade

Social Studies Homework the week of 1-5-09

Happy New Year!!!

This is looking to be a great year. We welcome Ms.Moreland back to the faculty at SFA. We are watching history in the making with the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States is this month. Check out this website for more information Inagural Info

The 8th graders are busy preparing for the NYS ELA State test on January 21 and 22. They are taking their grad photos this month too!!!

The reunion for graduates of SFA in the 1990's and 2000's is this Saturday at 1pm.

Reminders
Castle Learning assignments are an important part of your grades. Please check the website for new assignments. There are quite a few students are have outstanding assignments.
Students will be receiving the directions for the project section of their Country project. We will be working on these posters in class on Monday and Wednesday.

7th grade
Begin reading Chapter 6 this week. It is very important to read the textbook.

Wednesday - Complete your ABC list and work Scholastic magazine (7-205 page 8 1 and 2 , 7-204 page 8 1-10)**
Thursday - Make the corrections to your essay
