8th grade- write your 1st draft descriptive essay in notebook
7-204- read chapter 3 -Roll of Thunder- answer the 6 questions.
7-205- read pgs 29-32-The House on Mango Street- answer the 4 questions.
Religion 7-204- "Religious communities are transforming their properties into ecological sanctuaries and land trust" In one paragraph, explain the quote and give 3 examples of ecological sanctuaries.
7th grade---On looseleaf paper, write an inaugural poem for the new president of the United States- President Barack Obama.
8th grade-- tomorrow is day one of the NYS exam. Be sure to get plenty rest ( go to sleep EARLY) and eat a healthy breakfast (no candy).

7-204- Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry- vocabulary words-define and write in sentences:scoffed, fibrous, bale, sinewy, ornate, chiffonier 1. What reveals that the children work as hard as the adults to hold the family together? 2. Where has papa been? 3. What can be learned about the Logans by the description of the interior of the house? 4. What is Mr. Morrison like? Why has Papa brought him to stay on the farm?
Religion- read story for exam tomorrow, " 21-year Civil War in Sudan"
7-205- The House on Mango Street- 1. Who is Meme Ortiz? How old is he? How do you know? 2. What is ironic and childlike in this chapter? "Meme Ortiz" 3. What one word would you use to describe each of Louie's cousins? 4. What advice does Marin give Esperanza and her friends? 5. Why does Marin stay on Mango Street? 6. Who are the outsiders in Esperanza's neighborhood?
All classes- Castle learning---- many students haven't completed prior assignments given in castle learning. Please complete them as well for progress reports will soon be handed out. All assignments be it reports, projects, homework, exams, and castle learning all count towards your grade.
7-204- write the 2nd draft to your descriptive essay. Be sure to follow the outline given in class.
7-205- rewrite the introduction to your descriptive essay.

8-206- complete book 3 for those students who did not do so
7th & 8th grades- Write an essay which explains the importance of Christian service in our lives ad why it is an essential element of Christian life. Be sure to include the following:
P1- Explanation of Christian service
P2- Difference between service and Christian service
P3- Stories from the Maryknoll magazine or your religion book which tell of persons whose lives exemplify lives of Christian service.
P4- Why is Christian service an essential element of Christian life? Name organizations whose mission is some type of Christian life? As a young student, what are ways you can practice Christian service?
7-204- Fill in the character chart, only fill in the 1st four characters. vocabulary- define and write words in sentences : meticulous, testily, pensive, maverick, raucous, amiably, knell, gleaned, emaciated, dismally
7-205- read pages 7-11 answer the questions based on the chapters read in class. The question sheet was handed out this afternoon.
8th grade- only 14 students completed the Christmas assignment (only those students were given grades) section 2 will be reviewed tomorrow. I suggest the rest of the class complete their assignments in order to get a grade. No work = No grade
