The Legend of Rip van Winkle is about a man who has slept for 20 years and then returns to his town, a town that has completely transformed over time. If you were one of the original Dutch settlers of New Netherland, how might you react upon seeing New York City today- not 20 years later, but more than 350 years later?

In your essay, be sure to include:
- names and places you would recognize from the original Dutch Colony
- things that had changed over the course of several hundred years
- your reaction to the modern city
- details to support your answer
