October EventsOn the weekend of Oct.15 and 16th, We are joining with the parish to celebrate our patron, Saint Francis of Assisi, whose feast is on October 4th. Francis is known to people of all faiths throughout the world as a wonderful human being who lead an exemplary life. He was attuned to the needs of the poor, he challenged authority who saw warfare as a means to solving conflicts, and he had a special relationship to all God's creation. He has been quoted by many and there are numerous books written about his life and his mission.
On Saturday,October 16th, the annual Parish Dinner-Dance will be held in the school auditorium. We will send chance books to all families on Monday, Oct.3. We hope some of our families can attend...you do not have to be members of the parish to purchase the tickets! Call the rectory at 718-756-2015 for further information.
On Sunday, Oct. 16, the Franciscan Festival will begin with the 12:00pm Liturgy in Church, followed by a petting zoo and blessing of animals. Bring your pet to the church garden at 1:30. The students will have demonstrations and an "Ecology Fair", there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony on the roof of the school for our solar panels and a talent show/benefit concert by our students.
Put the date on your calendar now!!!
The annual Halloween party, organized by the HSA, will be on Saturday, Oct.29th. Flyers will be coming soon.

Back to SchoolTonight is the meeting you've been waiting for!! Please be in the auditorium at 7:00pm for the important beginning session. Following this, you will be invited to the classrooms for a meeting with the classroom teacher. We will have two sessions since there are families with more than one child.
We am confident there will have a good showing as usual. Many, many parents attend and so, we open ths school yard for parking.
This meeting sets the year and allows you to show your child or children how important their school life is.
See you tonight!

Welcome BackThe time has come!!! With 72 new students including our Kindergarteners, more than 335 of you will be returning to SFA to begin a new school year. We are so happy that you are using the website and keeping up with the school community in an electronic way! Branille Bermudez, who maintains the website is in her senior year in Florida. We are grateful for all the creativity and imagination she uses to continually update the website.
On Wednesday, Sept. 7, we will again see your smiling faces, hopeful that this will be a great year. Our first task will be to respond to those families who have experienced the devastation of their homes and families in New Orleans and in the other areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. Again, we thank God for giving us so much that we are so often able to extend a helping hand to those in need.
We look forward to seeing each of you. Enjoy Labor Day!!
