Important Parent Meeting TONIGHT

As you are aware, Project T.I.E. is a grant for improvement in ELA and Math. This three year grant will enable our teachers to use "Best Practices" consistently when teaching the Writing Process in ELA and when introducing math concepts for clarification and analysis in Math. The first year was condensed into 5 months and the program was not explained to the parents. We are having this meeting on Wednesday night for the parents of children in grades K-7 to complete the teaching/learning circle: Teachers, students and parents..
Please join us for an hour and give your child the best opportunity for success.

Each child in our school is enrolled in an online technology integration program. We will further explain and view the website and procedures for you on Wednesday.

Please come and be on time for this informative meeting. Children can earn a NUT card for urging and reminding you about the meeting!!

Motown on Lincoln Road

DSCN0471.JPG

Please join the cast of more than 220 students in grades 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 as they perform the varied works of the artists of the Motown label. They will delight you with song, dance and the telling of the history of the music which is so well known to all of us. Our talented students need to be here at SFA by 6:00pm to get ready for the opening number, "Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand" which is sung by the whole cast at 7:10pm.

Tickets are only $5.00 per person for two hours of entertainment.
The afternoon performance is for our 410 students and teachers only. All students in the show need to be ready with their show clothes for Friday afternoon.

Speech Contest Winners

DSCN0434.JPG

On Wednesday, April 26th, nine students who were class finalists presented their speeches to grades 5-8 and before a group of judges. The students had to memorize a 3-6 minute speech of a prominent person. The two who received the highest number of votes are shown here: Sheina McClendon and Doris Jean Charles. Sheina will once again represent the school at the Diocesan Contest on Tuesday May 9. Last year she placed first in this competition.
We congratulate all our fine contestants and encourage them to pursue oratory in the future.

Last Tuesday, we had the Moving Museum outside our school and three classes were able to do the activities for "Discovering the Universe". This was a great learning experience for them.
