Garden Restoration Partnership

SJ SJ SFA.JPG

A joint venture was created when a call came from S. Annelle Fitzpatrick, CSJ, a professor at St. John's University, asking if we would involve university students in a project on "Service Day", Sept. 23. Sister Joan, who continues to be part of our school as a member of the school's Education Commission, along with Ms. Becht and Mrs. Delandro organized the day. The photo above shows the students from St. John's University, students from St. Joseph's HS and eight of our seventh and eighth graders as they begin the task of restoring the garden boxes. We are especially grateful to Gerardo Coello, our resident carpenter who guided the construction of the boxes.
You will see more photos on the site in the future

Commemorating September 11, 2001

As a school community, we will begin this day by praying the Our Father together, remembering those whose lives were lost on this day 5 years ago.

From 8:30-11:00, each class will go to Church for a short period of prayer and will light a symbolic candle emphasizing the light of Jesus shining through our lives.

We will end the morning with as a school community by reciting the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, "Lord, Make me a Channel of Your Peace".. where there is hatred, let me sow love,...... where there is injury, pardon......where there is doubt, faith....

It's September!!!!

September is here and that means it is time to begin a new grade or work with a new teacher. To all who are returning, welcome back!! To all our new students, welcome to St. Francis of Assisi School. We believe that you are about to become part of a wonderful learning community. To all parents and guardians, let this be the year you become involved or more involved in the school community. Make every effort to come to the various meetings to learn about the school, to bring your ideas and suggestions and to take an active role in the life of our school. This year we begin our 97th year with a dedicated staff and more than 404 children on register. We look forward to this first week of school.
