Students Reach Out During LentThe photo above shows the display in the front hall of the various ways our students remembered those in need. Each class selected a charity or organization and will be sending them donations collected. Thank you for assisting us in teaching our children to show care and concern for those less fortunate.

A Special Lenten ActivityToday, March 21, 2007, 1-102 and 8-206 walked with their teachers to Kings County Hospital to bring trade books to the young patients. This activity was part of our Lenten outreach. Each class is doing something for a group of people who are in need in different ways. This is a wondeful example of faith in action. In the New Testament, the letter of St. James states:" Faith that does not result in good deeds is not real faith". Thank you for helping your child to participate in these projects.

Marvelous March!!This month has been a very full one! We experienced productive Trimester II report card conferences last week. The staff worked with diligence on the Middle States protocol on Monday, March 19th and this morning more than 140 students received the Sacrament of Penance at church with our pastor, Father Juan, Father Ahern from St.Teresa of Avila, Father Caleb from St.Gregory the Great, and Father Andy from St. Matthew's.
Our next event is on Sat., March 24th when we share food, friendship and entertainment by our talented young people. Tickets are on sale this week and we expect to have our usual large crowd enjoying one another's delicious home cooked specialties.

Important Reminders for AllOn Sat.March 17th, the parish will hold a specail "town hall" meeting of the three language communities. We are hoping that some of our families will be present. S. Barbara and I will be looking for you!!!
The program begins at 1:00pm in the school auditorium and will end before 4:00pm. Please make an effort to attend, if even for an hour or so. Thank you.
School is closed for students on Monday, March 19th as the staff continues to work on the documents for Reaccreditation by the Middle States Commission. This indepth study will be concluded by June of this year in preparation for a visit from a team of educators in the fall. You will be notified of a meeting after Easter to discuss your hopes and concerns.
We will have one more professional day to complete the project. Thank you for your understanding during these two years of study.

FINANCIAL AID DEADLINE MARCH 17Remember, your application for financial aid is due to the company, PSAS, by Saturday, March 17th. The application can be completed on-line on Saturday or postmarked with March 17. Don't be late in sending the application to them. This is one of the ways that they can reject your application. Last year, they did review late applications because there was enough money in the fund. Don't presume that will be the same this year. Get the application in the mail or posted by Saturday . If there are errors, you can fix them later. Get the application in NOW!!!

International Cuisine UpdateThe entertainment committee is all set for rehearsals in preparation for Sat. March 24th. We have a variety of groups dancing, and some of our other talented students will offer individual performances. If there are younger students who have a special talent: singing, etc., please call Mrs. Tai with that information.
Please send the paper with your food contribution by next week. The committee needs some new members as well! Don't be shy, you have wonderful people with whom to work and there are always others assisting on the day of the event.

Meeting Cancelled![]()
Unfortunately, due to a lack of response, the meeting for tonight has been cancelled. Notices were sent home with a response requested. There were only 6 "YES" responses and knowing that the weather may prevent others from coming, we needed to cancel the meeting. Hopefully, as a concerned parent you are keeping current with the many issues concerning the internet. Parents have contacted us regarding the use of profane language and mean words about other students. As a parent you need to supervise your child's use of the computer and the internet, as well as the phone. At school, we have a firewall that prevents the children from going to undesirable websites.
Hopefully, this workshop can be rescheduled in the late spring or early fall.
Please return the information about the Internatioanal Cuisine so that the committee can begin to plan for Sat. March 24.

Meeting on Wed. March 7This reminder is about our HSA meeting on Wednesday at 6:15pm. Mrs. Evelyn Medlinger, from the Program for the Development of Human Potential, will be presenting important information regarding Internet Safety. The presentation will include a video and will offer time for questions and concerns.
This parenting workshop is definitely needed as I speak to parents and teachers about time students spend on the computer chatting with one another and with some unknown "others". Some students use the internet to harass others. Please come to learn how you can assist your child. The meeting will conclude at 7:30pm.
We will also set up a committee for the International Cuisine which is Sat., March 24th. Hope to see you tomorrow night.
