Celebrating Earth day!!!
April 22 is International Earth Day and here at SFA we celebrated the day in prayer, song and poetry. The 6th graders made earth flags which the Kindergarten classes waved after they sang the opening song at the prayer service in the Peace Garden.

Sister Barbara's father passed away on Thursday, April 10 after a very brief illness. We have sent flowers in the name of the staff, students and families of our school. The viewing is today, Sunday, April 13th at Perry Funeral Home in Lynbrook, NY and the Mass of Resurrection is on Monday at 9:00am at Our Lady of Peace Church in Lynbrook, NY. Mr. Yander was 82 years old, his wife passed five years ago. As a school we prayed for Mr. Yander, S. Barbara and her brother Richard on Friday morning. Let us continue to hold the Yander family in our prayers.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden at SFA
Ms. Curcio and Mrs. Kander continued the partnership project with the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. Here students from grades 5 and 6 are involved with the study of green plants. Last month, the students walked to the gardens for their lesson and this week the lesson took place in the large meeting room in the parish center. Our next project involving the whole school will be our school garden, the front garden and the class garden boxes.
