School Begins for Grades 1-8 on Wed. Sept. 3, 2008We look forward to greeting students in Grades 1-8 on Wednesday at 8:00am in the schoolyard. At that time you will be met by your teacher and will then proceed to the classrooms for the first day of orientation. Dismissal for the three day is at 10:30am, so that the staff can meet and organize well for this new school year, our 100th!!!

SFA School Set to Begin Its 100th Year!!!We are almost ready to open the 100th year of SFAS! Many of the classrooms have already been set up by the teachers and some willing volunteers. The classroom floors, the halls, the stairs are in fantastic shape thanks to Mr. Oswald and Mr. Lee's efforts during the month of July. The lobby bathrooms are in process...new sinks, toilets, fixtures are ready.... partitions and mirrors are being delivered this week. The work was begun on Aug. 3rd and was more extensive than expected.
Enrollment is about 380 students with a few spaces in Kindergarten, grade 3 and grade 5. Ms. Shaneequa had a baby boy on July 26th and Mrs. Clarke's baby girl came unexpectantly---on August 12. All are doing well.
If you are still able to attend the Labor Day parade, we need your name and Tee Shirt size. We hope to have at least 12 students to assist with carrying the school banners, distributing leaflets about our school and joining in the festivities. Please call Mrs. Tai at 718-778-3700 on or before, Wednesday, Aug.27.

100th Anniversary Plans Continue
For those of you who are presently in SFA, you are probably wondering: "Where are the girls?". In 1953, the Holy Cross Brothers taught the boys in the "old school" on Maple St., while the Sisters and female lay teachers taught the girls in the "new school" on Lincoln Road!!

Join the Catholic Parishes for the Caribbean Day Parade
We are hoping for a delegation from our school to join the float on which Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio and Bishop Guy Sansaricq will lead the float beginning after the 9:30am Mass at St. Matthew's Parish on Eastern Parkway and Utica Ave.
