School Events Highlight the Month of OctoberWe've had many different educational and fun experiences during the month of October. Besides celebrating our 100th Anniversary closing, we have welcomed Mr. Williams as our Music Teacher, Mr. Williams comes with varied experience and the students in grades K-6 are responding very well to the music lessons.
Students in grade 8 are involved in service to the school as monitors and office assistants. Our Safety Patrol members work with the teachers on duty each day to protect the younger students as they play in the schoolyard and the play structure.
Father Juan has met with a group of students who will be taught how to minister to the parish as altar servers.
Our annual Halloween party was a great success due to the organizing efforts of Mrs. Browne, her committee and many, many volunteer workers!!

Our Celebration is Now Part of the History of SFASOur 100th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 was a celebration of love and gratitude for all those who in any way were a part of the St. Francis of Assisi School. Bishop Joseph Sullivan presided at the 12:30 liturgy which was attended by more than 400 people. The music, prayer and devotion was felt by all in attendance. Truly it was a day "that the Lord has made"!
The luncheon and entertainment that followed was a tribute to our talented young people and the dediaction of our staff. Echoes of "This is one of the most joyous celebrations I have attended in many years!" echoed throughtout the auditorium. The Tablet will be writing a story and we hope to have many photos to post on our website! Again, thanks to all who participated in so many ways!!!
The photos below show Sisters of St. Joseph: S. Theresa Scanlon, CSJ, Principal, S. Barbara Haran, CSJ graduate of SFA and S. Helen Lieberth, CSJ, teacher at SFA in the 60's!
The second photo is of the many alumni who attended the event.
