October is on Its Way!

Pre k Best.JPGOctober is just around the corner! We have had a very good beginning which we are sure is a sign of a great year ahead. Here are some photos of our September beginnings. We were very happy to see so many of you at the first parent meeting and hope we will have all our new families and many of those from last year as we prepare for two events that are coming soon: the H.S.A.Halloween Party and the SFA WALKATHON. Please check the calendar on the web on a regular basis.Thumbnail image for Blessing of new students.JPG

Sept. 10,2010

Dear Friends,

We join in prayer today as we remember

Mrs. Dottie Baynes, who passed into eternal life

on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010. Mrs. Baynes worked in finances at SFA for 24 years. I am sure that many of you were in her office at least three or four times each year as she collected the tuition, assisted with the financial aid forms and acted as counselor when you needed a listening ear!

After Mr. and Mrs. Baynes moved to Texas, they kept in contact and visited us this past June. In July, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had begun treatment and as usual, was hopeful and knew that her faith would assist her and her family. This news was shocking to all of us who worked closely with her at school.

We can be sure of her passing into new life where there is no more suffering, no more pain, where life in God is now more of a reality for her than ever before.

For those of you who had met Mrs. Baynes as you paid tuition, asked for other information or met her at our many school events probably what a special person we were privileged to know.  Those of us who worked closely with her have the collective memory of a loving, strong, spiritual woman whose gifts of enthusiasm, compassion, understanding and love of life permeated every part of her being.

Please join us in holding all those in her family in prayer:

Her husband John, her children Denise, Monique, Kim and JB and all the grandchildren, her sisters, brothers-in-law and her extended family in Jamaica, WI

May Dottie's spirit, which continues to grace all in this SFA community, be the spirit that we pass on to others.

Sincerely,

S. Theresa

A Memorial Mass will be offered for Mrs. Baynes at her former parish, St. Gabriel in East Elmhurst, Queens on Sat. October 16, 2010 at 11:00am. Her husband and children and friends will be present.
