Dear Parents/Guardians

On Friday, all children brought home the updated January calendar. We will post it by Wed.Jan. 18, 2012. On one side is a copy of the calendar and on the other is a letter summarizing the main points of the meeting with the Superintendent of Schools which occurred on Wed. Jan. 11th, 2012. More than 80 families were represented. The main points that were discussed are noted below.

In September, we will be known as St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy, following the plan of the diocese to convert all schools to academies. Unlike many of the already formed academies, we will not be merging with any school and we will not be changing the patron saint name. Our school is very strong with a rich history in following the life and attributes of St. Francis of Assisi, our patron.

The school has been financially stable with no debts and with the ability to maintain a solid building structure for almost 30 years. In addition, our alumni association is very strong and active in supporting the school and our parents are involved in the everyday life of the school. All of this leads to a process of transition rather than creating a "new" school with a new identity.

Among the benefits will be increased spirtitual support from a group of parishes,  access to many grants and new sources of revenue, a new governance model broadened by a Board of Directors with more parent involvement, and professional marketing assistance to promote and maintain enrollment.

Here is the letter which you can download if you did not receive a copy.

At our scheduled H.S.A. meeting at 6:15pm on Wed. Feb.1st, we will further discuss this transition to an academy for those who were unable to attend the meeting on January 11th. This meeting is during the annual Catholic Schools Week, which we will celebrate beginning on Sunday, Jan. 29h at the 12:30pm Mass at St. Francis of Assisi/St. Blaise Church.

We hope to see you on Sunday, Jan. 29th and on Wed. Feb. 1st.

Sincerely,

S. Theresa and S. Barbara

Parent Meeting on Wed. Jan. 11th 7:00pm

We hope to see many of you on Wed. evening. This important meeting is for all parents. A letter will be sent home on Tuesday to inform you that the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Chadzutko will be discussing information about our transition to an academy. This is the plan of the diocese, "Preserving the Vision" which has been in process since 2008.  Because of the many strengths of our school, including academic and financial, We are one of a group of schools who were considered for the school year 2012-2013.

Dr. Chadzutko will address the parents to further explain the Academy process and will answer any questions and/or concerns that arise.

Please be in the auditorium  at 7:00pm
